Belgian Girl Geeks

#5BEGG – recap of an inspiring evening!

Everybody was unanimous: The Hotel. Brussels is a marvellous event location. Where better to be inspired than on a top floor with an amazing view over Brussels…
and inspired we were! Our host bol.com provided us useful insights about Customer Centricity… and they also revealed a scoop: on Tuesday the 24th of February (the day after our event) they launched a webshop dedicated to bags: www.bol.com/tassen For this webshop they work together with small & big stores like for example Torfs and So Baggy to guarantee a wide range of items.

For those who are thinking of also selling items via bol.com check out www.bol.com/verkopen. Btw they also have a partner program for bloggers to earn money via their blog:
https://partnerprogramma.bol.com/partner/. After a lot of tips and a forecast for 2020 by Jan Huysmans, Director Bol.com Belgium we had 3 passionate speakers with each a webshop of their own.

First up was Claudia from Flying Frenzy, a webshop that sells the best cat toy ever!

3 key learnings from Claudia / Flying Frenzy:

  • make sure you have a unique product
  • good stock management is important
  • protect your offer cause others will copy it (even your advertising texts)

Into jewellery? So is Dorien from Luxedy! When you are selling a product that numerous other webshops also sell you need to differentiate in other ways. A personalized service can be your USP, but never stop innovating and regularly try & experiment with new ideas. Dorien just launched Luxedy@home for example. How to turn clicks into chicks? Check out Dorien’s slide deck with 6 learnings on how to launch your e-shop.

Last but not least was Sarah from Hello My Dear who together with another female entrepreneur Karolien launched a platform to create beautiful ‘life’ stories and collect your milestone moments online! A very important tip from Sarah: don’t ask friends & family for feedback! They will always support you, and tell you that you are doing a great job, just because they love you and think that everything you do is great. Ask a stranger if you want genuine insights to improve your product or service ;-)

Oh and don’t underestimate the workload, that’s something that all our speakers indicated: it takes a lot of hard work to have a webshop, so make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons and with a lot of passion and you’ll succeed ;-)

To end and to make those of you who didn’t come jealous… our goodiebag was sponsored by Bol.com (gift card, bol.com antistress dude & photo/card holder), Flying Frenzy (voucher) , The Hotel. Brussels (yummie stuff from Maison Dandoy or Pierre Marcolini), Luxedy (lovely earrings & voucher), Snoepzoet (Propercorn) and So Baggy (make-up bag & voucher). And… there was also a contest with 3 TOV bags with a value of € 150 that were taken home by @FemkeDralants @AnnMarcelis and @innekepoes.
